But to the north of this land of legends, emerging from the deep waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, lies another world: the Isole Eolie (Aeolian Islands). Isole Eolie is the Italian name of the Aeolian Islands : seven volcanic islands north of Sicily (Lipari, Salina, Vulcano, Stromboli, Panarea, Filicudi, Alicudi), listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. They are reachable only by sea, mainly from Milazzo (50 min to Vulcano, 2–3 h to Stromboli). For a first trip: Lipari as your base, Salina for nature and food, Stromboli for the active volcano.
