Solomun Brussels: Hangar at the Palace of Justice

Yesterday Brussels celebrated its own transformation. On 19 September 2026, Place Poelaert stopped being merely the balcony above the Marolles and became an open-air stage. Hangar invited Solomun to perform before the Palace of Justice’s newly restored front façade. It was my third Hangar event, this time with the privilege of being hosted by TheMerode . In brief: Hangar invites Solomun — Palace of Justice Open Air took place on 19 September 2026 at Place Poelaert. Solomun played an extended set before the restored façade of Brussels’ Palace of Justice. This fourth consecutive Brussels collaboration between Hangar and Solomun celebrated both electronic music and the return of a landmark hidden for decades. 1. Arriving at Place Poelaert: the city changes tempo The tram rails pointed towards the Ferris wheel while cables crossed a grey sky. It was unmistakably Brussels: threatening weather, monumental architecture, public transport and a party waiting at the end of the perspective. Hangar had not built an anonymous backdrop around Solomun. Brussels itself was the set. 2. Hangar: turning the city into a stage Founded in Brussels in 2018, Hangar describes its mission as Turning Cities Into Stages . From early industrial nights in Anderlecht it grew into major open airs at the Cinquantenaire, the Royal Palace, the Atomium and now the Palace of Justice.…
